Many businesses and government services change their hours on Remembrance Day. Here’s a selection:
COVID-19 TEST SITES
The MPI centre drive-thru testing site (1284 Main St.) and the sites at 2735 Pembina Hwy., Thunderbird House (715 Main St.) and the former St. Vital municipal office (604 St. Mary’s Rd.), are all open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The drive-thru testing sites at 1066 Nairn Ave., 125 King Edward St. and 1 Research Rd. are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The mobile testing site (1181 Portage Ave.) is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment or referral is required.
Polo Park shopping centre and St. Vital mall are open Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Kildonan Place is open 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Grant Park Shopping Centre is open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The Forks Market is open, but the Common bar is temporarily closed.
Most grocery stores, including Sobeys, Superstore and Walmart open at 1 p.m.
Manitoba Liquor Mart stores in Winnipeg operate from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. or 10 p.m., depending on the location. The True North location is closed. For details on other exceptions and rural Liquor Mart hours, visit www.LiquorMarts.ca/hours.
Beer vendors and private wine stores set their own hours for the holiday, so Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Corp. suggests the best way to find out if the one near you will be open is to call.
The Assiniboine Park Zoo is open Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Manitoba Museum is closed.
The Children’s Museum is closed.
The Winnipeg Art Gallery is closed.
The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is closed.
Movie theatres are closed.
RECYCLING AND TRASH
Recycling and garbage will not be collected on Remembrance Day, and collection will be delayed a day if your collection day is Wednesday or later.
The Brady Road landfill is closed.
All city-run leisure centres are closed.
The Crescent Drive, Harbour View, John Blumberg, Kildonan Park and Windsor Park golf courses are closed for the season.
City of Winnipeg swimming pools are closed.
On Wednesday, buses will operate on a Sunday schedule. Winnipeg Transit will provide free transit service to Canadian Forces veterans and currently serving personnel, along with one companion.
